Marion Derbecker welcomed 80 ladies from across Bruce Presbyterial on June 17th at Knox United Church in Clifford for a “Joy in June” day. The intent was to celebrate women, share in three presentations, enjoy a catered meal, sing songs with pianist Sharon Prieb, and win prizes.
Tea blends steeped in stately tea pots and served in heirloom tea cups were enjoyed along with fruit and dip and muffins and jam to begin the day. Each table was adorned with a lovely daisy floral display in a tea cup.

Nick Morris and his motehr, Shirley Morris, set up a display from the Flowers to Fragrance lavender farm near Harriston. Nick’s journey of exploration set him on an historical quest to trace the earliest hints of lavender leading to a career in aromatherapy. More gift bags were handed out before Heather Giles sang and lunch was served. Bonnie Koeslag, her daughter, Becky, and friend Sandie Drummond prepared a garden party of fresh spinach, quinoa, and potato salads, ham, devilled eggs, and fresh bread, with specialty cakes and pies for dessert.
Lacey Koeslag is ‘putting the fresh back in flowers’ from her Harriston store, Elora St. Flowers. She demonstrated the proper way to create a bouquet in a glass vase starting with fresh water and fresh cut flowers and leaving no leaves or greenery below the water line.
